2016 HONDA VFR1200X $7,995

In Europe & Asia Honda launched this V-4 powered bike for 2012 as the CrossTour, with an engine based on the same smooth and powerful powerplant used in the VFR1200F sport/tourer. This new model was designed to compete with ADV staples like the BMW R1200GS as well as newcomers (at the time) such as the Yamaha Super Ténéré and Triumph Tiger Explorer, so it is equipped with 19- and 17-inch spoked tubeless wheels, enduro-like upright seating, increased suspension travel and a shaft final drive. Here in the USA we only got this model imported for model years 2016 & 2017, but in the meantime some improvements came over the initial launch year, such as combined ABS, self-canceling turn signals, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC, Honda's version of traction control), an adjustable windscreen, 12V socket up front, and 3 sport ride modes. For Honda it is a one-two punch where the Africa Twin handles the gnarlier stuff and the VFR1200X (the name we got here in N. America) gives serious sport-touring performance and comfort w/ a bit of ADV touches (tubeless tires, spoked wheels, 5.7 inches of suspension travel and solid ground clearance) to tackle a little dirt. So while it’s definitely not the most confident off-road bike out there being a bit top heavy, it can get down graded dirt or gravel roads at a good pace resulting in a terrific sport-tourer with a very useful touch of off-road capability. This one is manual shift and is in fantastic condition with very low miles as well as has a set of detachable hard Shad side cases. Hard to find bike at a great price, $7,995.00!
