2003 SUZUKI V-Strom 1000 $3,995

In order to have an ADV machine to round out their lineup in the early '00s Suzuki's European arm repurposed the 996cc v-twin utilized in the TL1000 and retuned it for more low end and mid-range power and stuck it in a beefy aluminum frame with more suspension travel, priced it well and voila....a legend was born and a lot of bikes were sold. The smaller 650 sibling came out 2 years later and they've been staples ever since. While their rugged, round-the-world styling and expedition-ready features suggest otherwise, some labeled as ADV bikes work better on the road–much better–than they do off pavement (and the V-Strom is a good example of this). As such, they’re being bought more and more by riders who just appreciate their overall utility, comfy upright seating and solid aftermarket support, along with the ability to sometimes get off the tarmac but not into anything too gnarly. This decent mileage '03 has good Metzeler Tourance tires, and has a set of awesome sounding Leo Vince mufflers, a new tinted Zero Gravity windscreen, SW Motech crash bars, aluminum skid plate, SuperBrace fork stabilizer, Tusk 'Chub' handlebar, adjustable levers, a full complement of Tusk hard panniers & a plastic Emgo topcase for ample lockable storage.
